Addressing Racism: An independent investigation into Indigenous-specific discrimination in B.C. health care

Experiences of Discrimination in Health Care

We are requesting your voluntary participation in this survey to understand the presence and extent of First Nations, Métis and Inuit (hereafter called Indigenous) specific discrimination in health services in British Columbia.

The data and information collected by this survey will be held securely and viewed only by the Investigation team headed by the Investigation’s Commissioner. Following the conclusion of this Investigation’s analysis and submission of the final Investigation report, all survey responses will be sealed, and will not be available for any use, including further analysis, editing, research or publication.

All responses are confidential, and privacy will be protected by presenting all survey findings anonymously (no individuals will be identified) in the Investigation reporting and through using best practices to safety store and secure data. Data analysis will occur by Investigation team members only, and individual survey responses will not be shared with any non-Investigation personnel.

Message from the Team: We realize that this survey could be considered long, but we really encourage Indigenous people to complete it, as this is critical information for documenting the extent of Indigenous-specific discrimination in the health system. This information has never been collected so comprehensively in B.C.

We thank you very much!
