BC Parks is reviewing a proposed Ski Resort Development Plan (SRDP) submitted by Cypress Mountain Resort (Cypress Mountain) which is owned by Boyne Resorts.

The SRDP presents a long-term vision for how Cypress Mountain may evolve over approximately 60 years. The plan includes proposed improvements to winter recreation, Nordic facilities, visitor services, parking and access, as well as new opportunities for summer and shoulder-season recreation. The plan also identifies measures intended to help the resort adapt to changing climate conditions and support long-term operations.
Cypress Mountain is located within Cypress Provincial Park, on the traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation), and Stó:lō Nations. The resort is a major destination for skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, sightseeing, and other outdoor recreation activities. The resort serves hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and operates under a Park Use Permit issued by BC Parks.
Because Cypress Mountain operates within a provincial park, BC Parks must review proposed developments to determine whether they are consistent with the purpose and values of Cypress Provincial Park. These values include both conservation and recreation. Public feedback will help inform BC Parks' review of the proposed plan.
The proposed SRDP includes concepts such as:
- Improvements to winter skiing and snowboarding facilities
- Upgrades to beginner learning areas
- Enhancements to Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and tubing facilities
- Improvements to visitor facilities, parking and access
- Expanded summer and shoulder-season recreation opportunities
- Measures intended to support long-term adaptation to changing climate conditions
The proposed SRDP is a draft. Some projects being considered in this SRDP were approved in Cypress Mountain's 1997 SRDP or 2004 SRDP Amendment but were never actioned. These projects are displayed in maps titled as “Approved Projects”. These projects are being presented here for additional feedback from the public as each project would still require additional planning, review, environmental assessment, and approval before proceeding.
Not all projects in this SRDP would occur at once, and not all projects would be approved as proposed in this plan. The purpose of this engagement is to understand what people value about Cypress Provincial Park and Cypress Mountain, and what BC Parks should consider when reviewing the proposed plan.

This survey does not replace consultation with First Nations. The Province works with First Nations through a separate process.
