The Mineral Claims Consultation Framework (MCCF) introduced a mineral claim application process developed by the Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals to fulfill the Province’s duty to consult and accommodate under Section 35 of the Canadian Constitution.
Introduced on March 26, 2025, the MCCF was developed in response to the 2023 B.C. Supreme Court ruling in Gitxaala v British Columbia (Chief Gold Commissioner). Mineral claim registration occurs under the Mineral Tenure Act.
This survey is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of the MCCF’s implementation and identify both strengths and areas for improvement. Feedback from survey participants will help shape ongoing improvements to the framework. Government will share the actions it plans to take in response to survey feedback.
This survey will be open until November 26, 2025 and should take under 10 minutes to complete.
A summary of feedback will be published on the Ministry website. If you have questions about this survey, please contact Mineral.Titles@gov.bc.ca.
As shown in the graphic, the Mineral Claims Consultation Framework includes four phases:
- Application
- Review
- Consultation and accommodation
- Decision
